Aahh, kinda annoyed/in shock that we never found out who the friend was! After Charlie's little direct message to the friend at the very end, any ideas on who it was? I totally thought we would have specifically known who it was.
My best guess still is that he was writing to the girl who was rapped in his room. Charlie begins the book talking about how the person did not want to sleep with someone at a party, even through they had the opportunity (2). He was also cautious and skeptical of relationships through out the book because he was exposed to rape before he even realized it was rape. Charlie was protective of his sister after he saw that she was involved in an abusive relationship. He was also cautious with Mary Elizabeth and took their sexual relationship seriously and slower than she wanted. Charlie also did not feel comfortable having sex with Sam because he loved her, but was fine with having sex with Mary Elizabeth. I think he felt this way because he watched sex with two partners who did NOT love each other and then realized that it was not special or memorable for them, but that his feelings would be different when taking things to the next level with Sam.
